An Invitation to All Rapid Radio Owners: Maximize Your Communications with Managed Radio Services (MRS)

Updated: Jul 5

Now Offering Free First-Year Transition and Drastically Lower Subscription Rates for Amateur Radio Operators and Volunteers

Rapid Radios

Managed Radio Services (MRS), a communications network provider dedicated to enhancing emergency preparedness and community communication, today announced a major transformation of its business model. Effective immediately, MRS is extending a direct invitation to all individual Rapid Radios equipment owners - with a special call to amateur radio operators and severe weather spotters - to bring their existing Rapid Radios hardware onto the MRS network under a highly-attractive subscription structure.

To completely eliminate the barrier to entry, MRS is introducing a seamless transition program for current owners of Rapid Radios equipment (www.rapidradios.com). Under the newly launched model, users who transfer their billing and management authority over to MRS can join the network immediately with up to their full first year entirely free. MRS will match the user’s existing Rapid Radios service plan, meaning there are zero out-of-pocket setup or subscription fees until the device’s original annual service anniversary date arrives.

In addition to the complimentary first-year transition window, MRS has announced an aggressive, permanent rate reduction designed to make membership affordable for community volunteers. The comprehensive annual MRS subscription rate has been slashed from $250 to just $100 per year (per radio). This single, flat fee completely covers both the radio service renewal and full MRS network membership, granting operators seamless access to members-only portals, operational forums, and collaborative emergency communication structures.

"Our goal is to build an unshakeable, interconnected community of volunteers, weather spotters, and amateur radio operators who are passionate about emergency communications and local safety," said David Mark Armstrong WB5VDG. "By lowering our long-term pricing by over 60% and absorbing the remaining time on an operator's existing Rapid Radios billing cycle, we are making it easier than ever for skilled hams and emergency volunteers to integrate their Rapid Radio equipment into their existing response kits without double-billing or high overhead."

Key Features of the New MRS Subscription Model Include:

  • Zero Cost for the First Year: Transfer billing authority to MRS and experience full network integration at zero cost up until your current Rapid Radios annual renewal date.

  • Drastically Lowered Rates: Future annual renewals are dropped to a single $100 invoice (per radio), combining membership and service into one economical package.

  • Exclusive Network Access: Active subscription unlocks full access to secure, members-only areas of the MRS website, specialized communication forums, and coordinated network nets.

  • Simplified Operations: Seamless account transition handled directly by the MRS onboarding team to ensure communications remain uninterrupted.

Current owners of Rapid Radios hardware looking to maximize their radio experience and expand their network capabilities can begin their transition today. Managed Radio Services (MRS) operates over the national LTE data network and is fully dependent on carrier signal availability. As such, service cannot be guaranteed in areas with weak or no LTE coverage. We are not responsible for disruptions due to poor reception, network congestion, tower outages, SIM failures, or loss of carrier service. If a cellular signal is present, LTE service can generally be expected; however, performance is not guaranteed, and users may still experience reduced quality or intermittent connectivity depending on local network conditions. Users are strongly encouraged to test coverage in their primary operating area before relying on MRS for critical communication.
