Getting Started with Your Membership

Welcome to a community of volunteers dedicated to enhancing local communication and safety! We invite you to join our network at any time. Membership is subscription-based and available to all Rapid Radio owners who transfer their management and billing authority to Managed Radio Services (MRS).

By making the switch, your subscription grants you full access to our member website and forums to connect with other operators who share your passion for weather and emergency preparedness. There is no cost for your membership, network access, or participation during your first year, up until the date your current annual service is due for renewal with Rapid Radios. After you sign up, we will contact you to officially welcome you to the program and help you seamlessly transition your account.

To ensure your communication remains uninterrupted, Managed Radio Services (MRS) will issue your first annual subscription invoice via email 30 days prior to your Rapid Radios service anniversary date. This $100 annual invoice (per radio) covers both your ongoing radio service renewal and your MRS subscription, with payment accepted via check or money order.

As a subscribing member, there are three levels of participation, from the most basic to the more advanced. You can start as a Weather Watcher, providing general observations to help your neighbors stay aware. For those who want more responsibility, the next level is a Storm Spotter in the National Weather Service SKYWARN program, where you will provide crucial, real-time reports on severe weather. Finally, our highest level is an FCC-licensed Amateur Radio Operator, whose skills are critical to the entire network during an emergency. The best part is, you can grow into any of these roles. We provide guidance and help you find the training needed to advance to the next level.

This is more than just a communications network; it's a way to become an essential part of your community's safety and emergency preparedness. You can make new connections, develop valuable skills, and know that your participation makes a real difference when it matters most.

Managed Radio Services (MRS) operates over the national LTE data network and is fully dependent on carrier signal availability. As such, service cannot be guaranteed in areas with weak or no LTE coverage. We are not responsible for disruptions due to poor reception, network congestion, tower outages, SIM failures, or loss of carrier service. If a cellular signal is present, LTE service can generally be expected; however, performance is not guaranteed, and users may still experience reduced quality or intermittent connectivity depending on local network conditions. Users are strongly encouraged to test coverage in their primary operating area before relying on MRS for critical communication.
