Do you have a passion for weather and a desire to help your family, friends, and neighbors stay safe? We invite you to join Managed Radio Emergency Services (MRES), a vital program designed to enhance local communication capabilities during severe weather and other emergencies.

MRES is an initiative powered by dedicated individuals, built upon the Managed Radio Services (MRS) system. It creates organized networks of volunteers, ready to serve their local areas when it matters most. By becoming an MRES volunteer – whether as a Weather Watcher or a Storm Spotter – you'll gain access to a cutting-edge, managed communication system allowing you to provide crucial real-time information, helping to build immediate public awareness and strengthen collective disaster preparedness efforts.

Weather Watcher

Weather Watcher / Spotter

You can contribute directly to your community's safety without needing an FCC license. By joining as a Weather Watcher, you provide real-time, ground-level weather reports that are crucial for public safety. With only basic training, you can immediately begin providing critical information that helps enhance local weather awareness and disaster preparedness. This simple entry point allows you to make a tangible impact right away, using our modern communication system to give a firsthand account of conditions in your area.

If you choose to pursue more responsibility, the MRES program offers clear pathways for your continued growth. You can elevate your role from a Weather Watcher to a certified Storm Spotter by completing SKYWARN training. This certification equips you with the skills to identify and report severe weather, making your contributions even more critical during a crisis.

For those who wish to advance their skills in emergency communication and radio operation, MRES also supports your journey to becoming an Amateur Radio Operator. This in-depth training allows you to legally operate on a wide range of frequencies, significantly expanding your capabilities. Your expertise and dedication as a licensed operator would be invaluable to the entire MRES network.

Ready to transform your interest in weather into an invaluable public service? JOIN NOW and contribute to community safety by becoming part of the MRES network.

Managed Radio Services (MRS) operates over the national LTE data network and is fully dependent on carrier signal availability. As such, service cannot be guaranteed in areas with weak or no LTE coverage. We are not responsible for disruptions due to poor reception, network congestion, tower outages, SIM failures, or loss of carrier service. If a cellular signal is present, LTE service can generally be expected; however, performance is not guaranteed, and users may still experience reduced quality or intermittent connectivity depending on local network conditions. Users are strongly encouraged to test coverage in their primary operating area before relying on MRS for critical communication.
